What schema markup does
Schema markup is a small block of structured data, written in JSON-LD, that tells search engines facts about your firm in a machine-readable way: your name, the kind of service you provide, your address and phone number, your opening hours and the areas you serve. It does not change how your page looks to visitors.
Search engines use this information to understand who you are and to connect your website with local searches. Google recommends JSON-LD as the format for structured data, and the vocabulary comes from schema.org, which is maintained jointly by the major search engines.
Choosing the right type
All four inherit from LocalBusiness, so they support the same address, geo, opening hours and contact properties. Pick the most specific one that is accurate. A notary office, for example, should use LegalService rather than the generic LocalBusiness.
- LegalService — law firms, solicitors, barristers' chambers and notaries.
- AccountingService — accountants, bookkeepers, auditors and tax advisers.
- ProfessionalService — consultants and other professional services without a more specific type.
- LocalBusiness — any other business with a physical location clients visit.
How to add it to your website
Fill in the form; the JSON-LD on the right updates as you type and hints show which recommended fields are still missing. Copy the result and paste it inside a <script type="application/ld+json"> element in the head of your homepage or contact page. Most CMSs have a field for custom head code, and SEO plugins often accept JSON-LD directly.
The details must match what visitors can see on the page and what your business profile says. Inconsistent names, addresses or phone numbers across your site, directories and maps listings send mixed signals. After publishing, test the page with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.
Privacy
This generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our servers, and nothing is stored after you close the page, so copy the result before you leave.
Only include details you are happy to publish: the markup is visible to anyone who views the page source, exactly like the address and phone number on your contact page.
