What we check and why

What matters on a law firm website

People rarely look for a lawyer casually. They search for a specific problem and a place — dismissal lawyer Vienna, divorce solicitor Leeds, avocat droit des sociétés Lyon — and compare two or three firms quickly. Your website has to show within seconds that you handle that kind of matter, that you are a real, regulated firm and how to reach someone.

This audit runs our full AI & Digital Growth Audit and reads the results with law firms in mind: practice-area pages that search engines and AI assistants can understand, LegalService structured data, a visible bar membership, an intake form that does not ask for the whole case history and a first phone screen with a tap-to-call button.

Risks specific to legal practices

  • Email spoofing: payment-diversion fraud often imitates law firms handling transactions or settlements. We rate how easily your domain could be forged.
  • Confidentiality: forms that send enquiries over unencrypted channels, or third-party chat widgets that receive case details before consent.
  • Consent: trackers and embedded videos loading before visitors agree, a recurring theme in European enforcement.
  • Credibility: missing firm registration details, regulator or bar references, or an out-of-date copyright line.

Turning visits into instructions

Many prospective clients contact several firms at once and instruct the one that responds first in a helpful way. The audit checks whether your site offers fast routes: online booking for a first consultation, a reply-time promise, WhatsApp or a callback form outside office hours. The automation section suggests realistic next steps for law firms, such as intake questionnaires that collect conflict-check details before the first call, document request reminders and appointment reminders.

Professional conduct rules on advertising differ between jurisdictions. Where the audit recommends testimonials, fee indications or success stories, check what your bar or law society permits.

Practice-area pages that work

Give each practice area its own page with a clear heading naming the problem you solve, who it is for, how the process works, what it typically costs or how you charge, and who will handle the matter. Add a short FAQ and a direct way to book a consultation. Pages like that serve clients, search engines and AI assistants equally well, and they are what the audit rewards.

Frequently asked questions

Is this different from the general growth audit?

It runs the same checks. The explanations and examples on this page are written for law firms, and the automation suggestions are tuned when the scanner recognises a legal practice.

Which structured data should a law firm use?

LegalService, or the subtypes Attorney or Notary where accurate, with name, address, telephone, opening hours and areas served. Our schema generator creates it.

Can we publish client reviews?

That depends on your bar's rules, which differ by country. Where allowed, reviews must be genuine and must not breach confidentiality.

Does the audit check our client portal?

No. We only scan public pages and never log in or submit forms.

Will this tell us whether our privacy policy is correct?

No. We check that it is linked and what the site does technically. The content of the policy needs a legal review.
